There is just no stopping Putaruru and Tokoroa clubs this year. First they have No 1 player in NZ Michael Ware lending his support to them. Now they have TWO TIME WORLD BRIDGE CHAMPION, the bridge legend EDDIE KANTAR cheering them on from his home in Santa Monica, California.

Eddie, inducted into the ACBL Hall of Fame in 1996, is famous for his authorship of many bridge books. His bridge wisdom combined with his wit makes reading his popular books a learning experience (at any level) as well as a true pleasure.

He is one of the best known bridge writers in the world. He has written some 25 bridge books, some available in CD-Rom form, and is also a regular contributor to the ACBL Bulletin, Bridge World, Bridge Today, and OKbridge.

A two-time World Champion, Eddie is highly regarded as a player, and he competes regularly on the National level. He is known as one of bridge's great ambassadors.

He cheers on the members at Putaruru and Tokoroa Bridge Clubs and wishes them well in their efforts at the bridge table in 2015. Soon to arrive at the new Putaruru Library (formed by kind donations from Auckland Bridge Club and Joyce Catchpole at Matamata Bridge Club) are two of Eddie's outstanding books on that difficult subject of defence, or defense as Eddie would say being from North America. Modern Bridge Defense and Advanced Bridge Defense are "must reads" for members who want to up their defence.
