PUTARURU AND TOKOROA HAVE A WAPPING TIME!

By Jane - Posted on 16 February 2015

No less than 10 members from our clubs took part in Heat 1 of the WAP series 2015 held yesterday in Matamata. Some people in the region had said to me they had never seen anyone from Putaruru at a WAP and the only Tokoroa players they knew were Vera and Sandy ... so it was wonderful to see you all braving it into the WAP arena and having a go with the big guns.
FULL HOUSE!FULL HOUSE!
As WAP manager I carried out a survey on the WAPs and one of the things that came through was how helping non-open players in the game was an original theme behind the series and that it should be promoted to more intermediates and keen juniors at the clubs. So thanks so much for promoting this side of the game and I really hope you enjoy the series. I have some lunchtime seminars lined up in future heats aimed specifically at the intermediate and keen junior player so I hope you might come along and enjoy these.

The WAPs is a tough field. But one of the best ways to raise your game level is to play against these top players and learn from the experience. Special congratulations of course to VERA and SANDY for their marvellous 5th place overall in the heat. Their continued steady results and high standard of play are an inspiration and encouragement to members at both clubs.

I look forward to seeing you all in Round 2 and welcoming you to my home club Cambridge. Do encourage other members of both clubs to participate. It is a relaxed day of bridge with open players wanting only to support and encourage you in the game. Give it a try!
