Junior Championship League

Tops for Taupo!
Cambridge Bridge Club hosted the first session of the Junior League on Saturday. An excellent day was had by all 31 pairs, many of whom travelled considerable distance to compete. The long journey was well worth the effort for Sharon Barton and Sheila Taylor from Taupo who took first place.Sharon and SheilaSharon and Sheila
In second place were Lynne Boyack and Barbara Andrews from Cambridge. Barb Wilson and Lesley Roberts also from Cambridge took the prize for the top Novice partnership.There was a relaxed atmosphere and everyone enjoyed the day.Compliments were made on the quality of the food and the excellent raffle prizes. The event was well organised and with Nick Cantlon from Te Awamutu directing, his friendly style contributed to a successful tournament. The next venue for this series will be at Matamata on Saturday May 5th. Full results and the ladder can be found on the Cambridge website.

THE WAPs 5A OPEN

The second session of the WAPs takes place at Te Awamutu on Sunday 18th March. Morning coffee/tea from 9.30. Play starts at 10a.m. BYO lunch. Entry fee $10.00. This event is limited to 20 tables, so enter now to make sure of your place.

Waikato Bays Intermediate Championship League 2018

The second round of the Intermediate League was hosted by Taupo.The picturesque venue, overlooking the golf course at Taupo, attracted 56 players.Our congratulations go to Ev Gardiner and Sharon Opal from Taupo who came first overall with 56.84% closely followed by Malcolm Kirkby and his partner. Congratulations to Lauren Lehndorf and Barbara Cook, also from Taupo, who were the top junior pair.After two rounds of the competition, there are no clear winners, with players from Cambridge, Te Aroha, Tauranga and Rotorua in leading positions.

CALLING ALL JUNIORS and INTERMEDIATES

The second session of the INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE 2018 takes place this weekend.Taupo is hosting the second event of the year on Saturday March 10th. This event is open to all Waikato and Bay of Plenty players who are not Open standard. The competition is based on collecting points in each of the nine League tournaments which are played at venues throughout W/Bays over the next nine months.There are 10 prizes ($490 in total) that go to the players with the most points at the end of the year. Play starts at 10am. Entrance fee is $25.00. Lunch is provided.
